FEBUARY 2026

This month is a doozy. I’m trying to wrap my head around everything that needs to be accomplished for a summer release. I’ve landed pretty solidly on going the self-publishing route, which means there are a lot of things I could potentially mess up.

I think self-publishing can feel scary because there are so many things traditional publishers handle for their authors. I get that. So my approach has been to dig as deep into the process as possible, making sure I don’t leave a single thing out. The goal is to do everything a traditional publisher would do, just on a smaller scale. Obviously money and experience put limits on that, but you get the gist.

Edits were brutal. I thought that was going to be the easy part, but my god was I wrong. I genuinely feel great about the book now, though, and I’m honestly a little embarrassed about what my alpha readers had to go through. Book two will definitely have a much more streamlined process. I’ve got a finalized cover, and I love it. I’m still trying to find someone to do the map, which is already proving to be a challenge because my idea for it is obnoxious. Why are all my ideas obnoxious?
